They are coining the phrase, “Free Is Fair”. With the idea that music should be free or at least fans should be given the option to name their price for any given song. This week (March 8th - March 13th) every 24 hours they are going to be releasing a new song online for free download! Such a cool concept. I highly suggest you add/follow them:

We are proud to announce something very...

thesceneaesthetic:

We are proud to announce something very special and exciting. But first of all, we want to thank everyone that came out to our show last night at KTUB. It was an amazing experience and we’re so lucky to have such supportive and loving people backing everything we do. The show was awesome and we were proud to share the stage with some wonderful new and upcoming Seattle bands.

At the show last night we announced that we were holding a free raffle at out merch table for anyone who wanted to be considered in a drawing for a spot at our new album listening party that we’re planning in the near future. Each candidate was asked to write down their name, email adress, cell phone number and Twitter user name in order to submit themselves into the raffle. Today we chose 10 lucky people as winners of this contest and we announce them as follows:

Stephanie Le (stephlestrange)

Sonya Arbuckle (sonyasunshine)

Veronica Gruba (vtown)

Chelsea Cox (chelseaa182)

Ashley Mena (ohbabyitsashley)

Tatiana Rossi (taketakeitaway)

Katherine Gwynn (katherinegwynn)

Lauren Short (ordinarylauren)

Brie Labrash (brielabrash)

Michelle Munneke (mishkm)

Each of these lucky winners will get:

The opportunity to attend an exclusive listening party hosted by Eric Bowley and Andrew de Torres (date, location and time are to be announced)

A free t-shirt & copy of the “On The Road with The Scene Aesthetic” DVD

The chance to be part of a special video update with the band to promote the new full length record

We will announce each of these winners individually on our Twitter account.

ATTENTION CONTEST WINNERS: Please RSVP with us so we know that you’ve read all of this and so that we can confirm your spot at the listening party. Send an RSVP email to: band@thesceneaesthetic.com

This is going to be really, really cool. I can’t wait to start putting together the video update after we hold this listening party. I’m excited to hear what these people think of the new record and get some honest feedback and opinions. Plus it’ll be fun just to hang out with some of our fans. Maybe we’ll order some pizzas and play some board games too. :)

My frans keep me company when I’m working on my computer.

My frans keep me company when I’m working on my computer.

Favorite story/memory about Argentina? (I think I have the country right? Haha)

There are FAR too many to count; but this family changed my life:

(From left to right) Guillermo, Joel, Analia, Nicolas, Franco, Lucas, Me & Brenda

They were some of the most humble, loving people I have ever met. Have you ever felt like you might have known someone from an existence before this life? That’s what I felt, very strongly, when I met this family after being in Argentina for only 6 months.

There are so many stories I have written down in my journals and my letters home to my family that involve them and their conversion process. They taught me so much about family love and devotion to what you believe in.

I actually still keep in good contact with them, I wrote Analia and her family an email this morning in fact! I would love to take my own family to go visit some day in a few years. That would be amazing.

what was your favorite toy/possesion as a child?

All of my Micro Machines playsets. I haven't talked to you in forever! Just thought I'd tell you that I miss you very much sir. :)

Also, to keep this on topic, are you enjoying your job? :)

Ashley Hasler! I miss you too. I got your text the other day, hopefully you got my response… however much delayed it was. :)

I’m loving my job at Apple! It’s testing me in certain ways that are helping me grow. Sometimes I feel like I’m back on my mission again because for that entire 2 years I was teaching people, and part of my responsibilities now at Apple is to teach some of their One To One sessions for people who have just purchased a new Mac and want to learn how to use it! So that’s fun. I meet a handful of interesting people each and every day. It’s also sparked my love for learning again. I’ve only been using a Mac myself for a little over a year now, it’s weird to think that I used a PC for so long. I don’t know if working a retail job is where I see myself for an extended period of time, but it’s definitely helping pay the bills during this time where Andrew and I aren’t on the road touring with The Scene Aesthetic.

I love being home and being so close to my family though. When are you coming out to Seattle?!

The Morning Benders release this cameo-packed live video take on...

The Morning Benders release this cameo-packed live video take on Big Echo’s opening track “Excuses,” filmed by the Yours Truly crew back in the band’s Bay Area home.

Some brief words before and after set it up as benders’ mainmind Chris Chu’s homage to Phil Spector, and here the Wall Of Sound is built on a Wall Of SF Friends, including Chris from Girls, Vanderslice, ex-Rogue Wave/present Port O’Brien bro Gram LeBron, the Mumlers, and a bunch of strings, guys, and girls picking apart and chorally uplifting the harmonies to the standout throwback track. Definitely worth a watch.

We get up early just to start cranking the generator
Our limbs have been asleep we need to get the blood back in ‘em
We’re finding every day several ways that we could be friends
We keep on churning and the lights inside the house turn on
And in our native language we are chanting ancient songs
And when we quiet down the house chants on without us

Period. Hailing from Queens, New York their album “Weathervanes” is a breath of fresh air to me. It’s the kind of music that just makes me happy. I promise you their album is worth checking out. If you liked the song I put on here, do yourself a favor and check out these songs by them: Broken Horse, Hannah, Generator ^ Second Floor.

Taken from their MySpace page: “Freelance Whales found one another in late 2008, in Queens, amidst a strange amalgam of unfamiliar instruments, and precariously arranged pop songs. Using whatever musical gadgets they happened upon (mostly harmonium, banjo, glockenspiel, synthesizers, guitars, bass, drums, waterphone), the five members worked at crafting songs with interlocking rhythmic patterns, lush textural layering, and an engaged group-vocal energy. The result is their debut LP, weathervanes, whose songs work at evoking a sense of dislocation, or sensory disorientation. They invite the human spirit to exit the body, if only for brief moments.”

What do you think of Freelance Whales?

"You know you talk about these guys like its an anthropology class, but the truth is, they bring..."

“You know you talk about these guys like its an anthropology class, but the truth is, they bring certain modes of conflict resolution from all the way back in the old country, from the poverty of the mezzo-giorno.
3 years ago today my dad passed away. I don’t really want to make a big deal about it, but I did want to say that he was an incredible person. He was one of the most hard working and honest people I’ve ever known. I miss him a lot. He always put others before himself and that is something that I try my hardest to do always.

Any good I accomplish for you or anyone in my life, you have him to thank for.

Aaron, I said this to you earlier today and I’ll say it again, your father contributed in teaching me one of the most valuable life lessons I have ever learned. I don’t know if I ever got a real chance to thank him for that. I loved him too. He is missed on so many levels. You are the man you are today because of the man he was.

Hold your head high, and make him proud.
Also, if you haven’t checked out Fairline and Jesse Morrow, you definitely should.

*NOTE: Just another reminder that KTUB’s capacity is limited to only 350 PEOPLE, and there are absolutely no pre-sale tickets. If you plan on coming, we suggest getting there early.

I just got done doing inventory on all the merch we have at my house. It’s now stored nicely and neatly in my garage waiting to be unleashed upon all of you who would like to bundle up in a nice cozy warm TSA hoodie or t-shirt. We also have some limited edition “A Type & A Shadow” EP pre-signed posters and lots of other goodies that you can get your hands on.

P.S. That inventory took me 3 hours.

DESIRE: Lego Sushi

DESIRE: Lego Sushi

This cover of, “King Of Wishful Thinking” is...

This cover of, “King Of Wishful Thinking” is absolutely amazing.
